SERIES NARRATIVE
A mobile bookstore and school, P.B.A. materialized in disparate locations, from hotel rooms to backyards, and beyond. Inspired by the Samizdat movement of Eastern Block countries under communist rule, P.B.A functioned as a physical as well as internet based used book seller and “flying university,” using the printed form to discuss issues concerning social politics.
Sales from books through P.B.A. went towards the production and printing of the Journal of Radical Shimming and other Red76 printed matter. As well, these funds - when available - we’re given away as grants to others for the creation of their own free printed matter.
Part of Red76’s series, Flying University, P.B.A.’s took place in various locations around the New York City area as well as multiple locations around Portland, Oregon. Conversants for some of these iterations included Michael Rakowitz, Aaron Peck, David Senior, Lize Mogel and Alexis Bhagat.
